The Camp Store
The Tuck Shop (Camp Store)
Mt. Gilead has a camp store called the Tuck Shop that opens daily during free-time. Leaving tuck shop money for your camper is optional, however, 99% of parents will leave tuck shop money at camp. All tuck shop funds are used as a credit system, and campers are not able to use cash at camp! This protects your camper from accidentally losing money, and also allows parents to check-in on account balances anytime during their camper’s session.
What is sold at the Camp Store and how much is a typical amount to leave?
Gatorade, Juice, Granola Bars, Chips, Ice Cream Sandwiches, Candy Bars, Clothing and replacement items that may become lost during camp like Batteries, Bug Spray, Water Bottles and Sunblock! Staff monitor purchases and do not allow younger campers to go crazy on candy and sugar. Parents may also leave restrictions for their campers during registration at camp.
Most parents leave between $20 and $50 per week for their campers to spend in the camp store. Items in the store are reasonably priced and most campers have leftover funds at the end of the week.
All leftover camp store funds are returned directly to parents as cash during pick-up on the final day of camp.
