PARENTS: Cultivating Healthy Relationships with Your Kids

The stay-at-home environment is unique because, for most people, every routine, priority, and activity is done in the same place among the same people. And this environment can easily lead to frustration, bitterness, hurt feelings, and even anger as families are forced together in close quarters. Although, this environment can also be an incredible opportunity for healing, blessing, and bonding. Slowly and surely our pre-corona lifestyles will resume, but until then, parents take the time now to have deliberate, purposeful conversations with your kids and spouses to show love and encouragement. Use the situation God has placed you in right now to serve others and glorify Him.

When I first read the article below I immediately thought about how parents’ presence in their children’s lives has undoubtedly increased in the past 6 months. For most families, this factor has been challenging, yet positive and healthy. Inevitably, schools and daycares will open again and parents will go back to work. When this occurs, you may not be as physically present as you have been in the past few months, but you can still connect with your kids in different ways. I encourage you to take a look at the different ways you can connect more and grow in your relationship with your kids.

Hey, I'm Kori! This is my 11th year at Mt. Gilead! I was a camper for 5 years, graduated from the CILT program in 2016, and have been a counselor ever since! Mt. Gilead is my home-away-from-home and I am blessed to continually be apart of this ministry! In the fall, I will be a Junior at Wheaton College studying nursing with hopes to be a midwife one day! I enjoy exercising and playing sports, being outdoors, listening to music, traveling, and spending time with friends!
